So long 9 o'clock sunsets

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — This week, we said goodbye to cooler than normal temperatures, weekends without NFL football, but also 9 p.m. sunsets.
As we get further from the summer solstice and closer to the winter solstice, each day is starting to get just a bit shorter.
The solstice, Wednesday, June 21, gave us 15 hours and 26 minutes of sunlight, and a 9:29 p.m. sunset. Sunday, August 7, gave us 14 hours and 19 minutes of sunlight, and an 8:59 p.m. sunset.
Still, sunsets in Boise are much later at night than many cities across the country, due to how far back Boise is in it's time zone. For a comparison, while the sun sets over Boise Friday, Aug 11 at 8:54 p.m., New York City has a sunset at 7:59 p.m.
We're still about three months from the end of daylight saving time, so the sun will still be up for a few hours after work or school, at least for a few months.
